Update, Apr 26th, 2018: As of March 21st, 2018, Breath of the Wild is the best-selling Zelda ever.

Update, Jan 31st, 2018: As of December 31st, 2017, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has outsold every Zelda game globally with the exception of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

As part of their latest financial results briefing, Nintendo reported that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has shipped 15.54 million units worldwide on the Nintendo Switch. This number does not include sales of the Wii U version, which was previously reported to have sold 1.61 million units.

This brings total sales of Breath of the Wild to 17.15 million units globally. For insight into why Breath of the Wild has been selling so well, take a peek at our analysis on the subject. It largely pertains to the game's performance in Japan, but also explains its global success.
